FAQ's
What is a sorority?
A sorority is a group of women bound together by common goals and aspirations. The members that form a sorority share their efforts, friendship, and knowledge. Together these members learn to grow as individuals and make the Greek organization stronger. Their common experience builds bonds and friendships that last a lifetime. Though there are many different sororities, they all share common founding principles. Greek organizations enhance your educational experience by emphasizing intellectual, interpersonal, and social development. The ideals of lifelong friendship, sound education, campus and community service, and social interaction are what Greek members strive to live by every day.
What is recruitment?
Recruitment is the time when Sororities seek and recruit new members. The recruitment events are at different times. Recruitment is a time when students have an opportunity to visit the groups and see what each has to offer.
If i go through recruitment, do i have to join?
No. Recruitment is a time to see what our organization can offer you. Going through Recruitment and its functions does not commit you to joining. We strongly suggest that you look at other organizations on campus and make sure that Sigma Lambda Gamma is right for you.
Do you live in a sorority house?
Our sorority does not have a house; many girls live at home, in the dorms, or in apartments with other sorority members. Living in a house does not constitute being in a sorority. The foundation of our sorority is built on the quality of our sisterhood, not a house.
Will the educational process affect my grades?
As students at UCI, our purpose is to focus on our academic careers; we strive for academic excellence. With support from our sisters and alumni we are committed to our academics and always concentrate on academic success. We have a minimum G.P.A. to join and expect girls to prioritize their time to achieving those standards.

Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. supports the integrity and dignity of women, basic human rights, decency, honor, gracious living and positive reinforcement of each other. There is no place for hazing in our sorority.Violation of the Hazing Policy by an initiated member, associate member, colony or chapter will result in a review of membership by the National Board of Directors. The potential result of a hazing violation may lead to termination of membership or suspension, withdrawal or dissolution of charter.
